How Kaddy+ Got Here

Kaddy+ started with a pretty simple idea: I wanted a better way to experience disc golf.

I’m a disc golfer, a dad, and someone who naturally pays attention to how things work. The more I played, the more I realized that the information surrounding a round was scattered everywhere. One place kept score. Another helped with courses. I had my discs, my throws, my notes, my stats, and everything I was learning about my own game—but none of it really felt connected.

I kept thinking, there has to be a better way to bring all of this together without making the game more complicated.

That thought turned into sketches, notes, conversations, and eventually a much bigger idea.

I wanted an app that could be useful when you were standing on the tee, not just something you looked at after the round. Something that could help you find and play a course, keep score, know your distances, manage your discs, track the parts of your game you care about, play side games with your friends, and build a meaningful history of your rounds—all while staying simple enough that it didn’t get in the way of actually playing disc golf.

That became Kaddy+.

Building it has meant talking with players, course owners, tournament directors, developers, designers, friends, and people throughout the disc golf community. It has also meant a lot of early mornings, late nights, testing, changing things, throwing ideas away, and constantly asking one question:

Does this make the experience better for the player?

That question still drives the product.

Kaddy+ isn’t being built to tell people how they should enjoy disc golf. Some players want nothing more than a clean scorecard. Others want to understand every part of their game. Some want competition, side games, course information, or better tools for the places they play.

The goal is to give all of those players a home.

And we’re just getting started.

Every course that gets mapped, every round that gets played, and every piece of feedback helps shape what Kaddy+ becomes next.
